WELCOME TO PORTLAND WORLD TEAM TENNIS!

News

Andy Pham will be taking the lead as the Portland WTT league coordinator starting this season.  Katie (that's me) will be assisting.  It's been a fun run these last few years but I'm ready to pass on the torch.  Andy is excited and has the experience to make the league even better.
See you on the courts!

+ What is a WTT Team?

A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Teams can carry as many as 16 players. Teams are allowed two substitutes per season. Players must compete in at least two matches during the regular season in order to be eligible for playoffs, finals, and advancing to WTT National events.

+ How to register a team.

To register a team, send an email to pdxwtt@gmail.com and provide:

  • Captain's name
  • Captain's email address & cell phone
  • Team name
  • Team level
  • Co-Captain's name
  • Co-Captain's email address & cell phone
  • Home match area preference

+ Divisions (levels of play) offered.

3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+ divisions are offered.

+ Determining individual rating.

All players must have a USTA rating or be self-rated. Players are not required to have a computer NTRP rating to play in the local league but must have a verifiable NTRP rating to advance to WTT National Qualifier and WTT National events.

See NTRP Guidelines for Rating to self-rate. Captains are responsible for ensuring players are registered at the correct level.

+ Determining team rating.

See the above 2016 Guidelines and Policies in Resources Section for team rating.

Portland World Team Tennis team rating rules are not the same as National WTT rating rules. Please disregard information about determining your team rating at www.wtt.com.

Portland World Team Tennis allows only one player rated over the team’s NTRP level to compete on a team. If your team is interested in competing beyond the local level, be aware of the differences and requirements for national events.

+ Can I play on more than one team?

Local Rule: Players may participate in more than one division but may NOT participate on more than one team within the same division. For example, a player may participate on a 3.0 and a 3.5 team, so long as that person is deemed eligible. A player may NOT play on two different 3.5 teams.

National Rule: WTT National Qualifier does not allow a player to participate on two different teams within the same division.

+ Can I register as an individual?

Yes. We will help place you on a team if you do not have one. See the News section above for the Open Night Play schedule. After the regular season has begun your name is available to captains looking for additional players. Send an email to pdxwtt@gmail.com for more information.

+ League winners qualify for a National Qualifier.

Winning teams of any official Mylan World TeamTennis (Mylan WTT) local league division are eligible to attend one National Qualifier within 12 months from the date their local league ends.

If the winning team is unable to compete in any National Qualifier within the 12 months, they may be replaced by the second place team within the same time frame.

The GPTC will provide a $400 stipend for the league winner to attend a National Qualifier event.

+ Contact information.

For more information, please e-mail pdxwtt@gmail.com.
